Anxiety & Using Opposite Emotions

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is one of the main skills that has helped save my life. They are skills that I will use for the rest of my life! No, seriously I use them without even thinking about it being therapy.

For example: I’ve been dealing with a lot of ups and downs in my emotions. Sadness, loneliness, anxiety, to name a few. I’ve found myself going to use “Opposite Emotions”. Feeling depressed or anxious? Put on a funny show. That kind of thing. It’s not perfect but it gets me through to bedtime when I can take my meds and (hopefully) shut off my mind.

That’s just one example of how DBT is helping me in my current struggles!

  2. I felt the same way about the DBT. Had it for almost the entire year but when I noticed something off I would watch funny videos, create jokes to make myself laugh etc. I would try to focus on positive things or things that make me happy to get rid of the negative outside my house (at work etc.).

  3. I love using opposite action!! Well, sometimes 🤣 other times it’s not easy. I like modern family – was just watching it tonight and got in some good laughs 😁

I also use opposite action for balancing sleep, doing homework, getting off screens (which I really should be doing now 😆), etc
