I still have triggered moments. Someone who looks like my abuser will take me right back to that dark place. Then I have to ground myself.

Today Time After Time (a song he used to always play) came on the radio. I immediately shut it off and told my partner I didn’t want it to ruin our day. Then I realized by turning it off I was already giving it the power to ruin my day! So, I turned it back on!
